I build guitars by hand often using reclaimed timber in some way both to be environmentally friendly and also because I love the patina and character which is inherent in this kind of timber. The Tele style guitar here has a neck made using hardwood from a pallet, and the carved top guitar has a body made from an old table.
The bass is made using a piece of English ash which was bought but it does have fantastic grain!
Using reclaimed timber often means that there may be cosmetic blemishes which some people may feel make the guitar less attractive but personally I think they add beauty and interest to what could otherwise end up being a cold, sterile instrument.
